Human Resources & Office of Professional Responsibility - Recruit, coordinate and conduct hiring and promotion opportunities of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. Coordinate, assign, and record Off-Duty Employment. Record and monitor modified duty assignments. Conduct policy reviews and analysis. Independently and objectively investigate administrative and all other allegations of misconduct occurring in all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office, allegations of wrongdoing by Sheriff’s Office employees, and serious breaches of Sheriff’s Office policy.
Texas Department of Public Safety – (March 1982 – August 2012)DPS Training Academy and Field Instructor – Coordinate and supervise the District Civil Disturbance Management Team, Advanced Driving Training, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and First Line Supervisor TrainingTrooper Texas Highway Patrol – Perform routine and advanced enforcement duties. Give on-the-job training to trooper-trainees and exercise sound judgment within limits prescribed by laws, rules, regulations, and Departmental policies, with guidance from in-line supervisors.

Lieutenant Texas DPS – Office of Inspector General: Independently and objectively investigate, review, delegate, and oversee administrative investigations. Prevent and detect serious breaches of departmental policy, fraud, abuse of office, including any acts of criminal conduct within the Department. Continually monitor employee criminal allegations referred to the Texas Rangers or CID for investigation. Prepare reports on all investigations to the Public Safety Commission.
