The Crimes Against Children Unit is an investigative unit within the Criminal Investigations Division dedicated to investigating crimes involving child victims under the age of 17. This unit specializes in cases involving child abuse, both physical and sexual, sexual exploitation of children, and offenses facilitated through the internet involving minors. Detectives assigned to this unit work closely with local, stated, and federal partner agencies throughout the course of their investigations.

Detectives also work closely with the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County, Child Protective Services through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and other partner agencies to ensure coordinated, child-centered approach to inverstigations.
