Lieutenant Carolyn Brown is a veteran employee with the Smith County Sheriff Department. Her tenure of 25 years started  December 5th 1990. Her c
linical ladder began from a  jailer to the rank of Sergeant over maximum security jail, Sergeant over Courthouse Security, and presently the Lieutenant over Jail Operations which includes 755 inmates, supervise approximately 150 employees, maintaining jail compliance, staff scheduling,  interview perspective employees, and  monitor inmate transportation.

Profoundly driven and a perfectionistic by nature, Carolyn is committed to her employer. Carolyn maintains and regularly enhances her education by attending continuing education classes to stay in compliance with jail standards and peace officers license. The results of her dedications are palpable.

Building on this success, Carolyn’s goal within the next five years is to receive her   Masters in Criminal Justice.

Family Life

Youngest of three children and the only girl born to Walter and Dorothy Brown. Graduate of John Tyler High School, and Jarvis Christian College. Carolyn  indulges in digital photographs and sports. Proud aunt of one nephew and two nieces that she raised. She’s a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and attends North Star Bible Study.
